Points to Ponder:  some miscellaneous points and background information plus a number of links to other pages:
	The events described and the photographs presented in these pages do not represent the end of the spraying activity in this area - that continues.  This is just a reporting of what has been seen with our own eyes, along with other witnesses, and not simply being some third hand Internet "conspiracy theory"!  The specific intention is to present a rather local point of view.
	Canadian sovereign territory and air space is either being invaded, or at the very least "incursions" are taking place, by aircraft perhaps flown by members of the forces of the United States of America or, on the other hand, we have a Liberal government that is cooperating and with full knowledge allowing these activities - whosoever is involved.   It is very disappointing to think that our elected representatives are apparently allowing us all to be treated as some sort of guinea pigs.   The statement above regarding "incursions" is not so outrageous when considering what professionals in this field have said.  I quote here from the issue of Maclean's magazine dated 26 August 2002, page 34 in the Peter C. Newman column: "Canada's Critical Choice":    Jack Granatstein, a military historian and cochairman of the Council for Canadian Security in the 21st Century, points out in a recent C.D. Howe Institute study that "although terrorism poses a real threat, it is not the most serious crisis. The danger lies in wearing blinkers about the United States at a time it is in a vengeful, anxious mood." Granatstein also predicts that "if Canada does not fully comply with U.S. continental security plans, the Americans could seal our border and deploy their armed forces in our territory."

	As mentioned above regarding the challenges faced in trying to receive a response concerning chemtrails from your local Member of Parliament - try contacting the media: newspapers or television broadcaster.  Their very refusal to follow up on any lead you give them tends to confirm the part that they play in the insidiously controlled "popular", mainstream fare that we are constantly being expected to consume.  Think about it.   I recently conducted a search of a database of newspaper databases - all the way from AAP News to ZNANIYE-SILA - don't ask!  In 2806 newspapers world wide there was not one single reference to chemtrails in the title of a published article.
	But there have been a few small successes in the print media.  The Springwater News, a local community newspaper with a print run of some 13,000 copies every two weeks, has printed my lengthy letter to the editor based upon material from these chemtrail pages.  This was in the issue of 15 August with the editor adding other material and two photographs from the web site.  Many readers have contacted me by phone and e-mail and in the issue of 29 August the subject was kept alive with two positive letters from readers and more supportive words in "The Editor's Musings". Thank you, Michael!     Another reader's letter was published in the issue of 12 September 2002 and it is presented here in full along with unique chemtrail photographs contributed by the writer:  Christian Island.  The page will open in a separate window - it may be kept open, minimized or closed to return here.
	Plus, at 26 August 2002, for the Labour Day weekend issue, Tiny Ties, the "Township of Tiny's only community paper", has appeared with the chemtrail story!  I was asked to contribute an article of 1300 words and, along with two photographs from the web site and the web address, it is on the front page.  Potentially another 9,000 homes have the chemtrail story at hand.  Very many thanks to those who made this possible.     The publisher of Tiny Ties invited me to prepare an update of the above article for the May 2003 long weekend issue of the paper.  There was so much to include that it increased to about 1750 words but they managed to squeeze it in:  Update 2003.  The page will open in a separate window - it may be kept open, minimized or closed to return here.  Although most of the material in this new article is drawn from this web site it is a compact "fact-filled" summary of the issues.
	In the Tuesday, 27 August 2002 issue (page 7) of Ontario Farmer, Ontario's leading farm publication, ("Bowes Publishers Limited - Subsidiary of Sun Media Corporation - A Quebecor Company") we were fortunate to have a letter published which appeared under their heading of "Drought discussions must mention cloud-seeding."   The text of that letter as published is below.  There had been some minor editing for whatever reason.  It is typical of other letters that have been submitted for publication.  The circulation of the weekly paper is 35,000.     Drought discussions must mention cloud-seeding   Dear editor:   I am an occasional reader of Ontario Farmer - typically when our farmer friend passes on his copy to me.   I have noted the recent coverage you have given to the ongoing drought conditions in Ontario. In this area North of Barrie recent rainfall is about 18% of normal but, perhaps significantly, Ottawa is around double their normal.   I don't believe there can be any meaningful discussion of our current weather conditions without including the subject of the high altitude aerial spraying for the purposes of weather modification that has been carried out and continues aggressively to this day.   On numerous occasions, in the last six months or more, almost a daily basis, my wife and I have witnessed unusual activity in the skies above our rural home.  This has involved large multi-engined jet aircraft flying at relatively high altitudes leaving behind white plumes or trails that, unlike traditional aircraft condensation trails, do not fade away but instead disperse into large cirrus-like cloud formations.  Often, after some time, we've seen these clouds join together into a general hazy overcast.   We are not talking about the aerial spraying of potato fields or other crops.  This is the high altitude spraying - call it "cloud seeding" - that lays contrail-like white plumes or trails across otherwise clear bluish sky.  It appears from all the evidence gathered to date that this could be an officially unannounced program of weather modification and control of global warming - along with other possible objectives.   This aerial spraying has come to be widely described as "chemtrails" - as opposed to condensation trails, which are formed in the upper atmosphere by jetliners under certain specific conditions of temperature and humidity.   I know that some farmers have noticed these horizon-to-horizon checkerboard patterns and have seen the aircraft themselves.  Anyone who spends time out of doors should note this aerial activity and question it.   The aerosols being sprayed are typically reported as being aluminium, barium, cadmium, titanium - the list goes on.  Specifically, laboratory tests in Ontario have confirmed the presence of mica, quartz and carbon black - as well as aluminium particles measured at levels seven times the maximum allowable by Health Canada.   No discussion of this chemtrail spraying activity has appeared in the mainstream media and it appears that our elected government representatives know nothing about it!   In the last few months I have taken some credible photographs of the chemtrail spraying that has taken place over our home and published them on our personal web site.  Go to http://www.Holmestead.ca and click on the new chemtrails link.  See for yourself but be certain to read the descriptions and further comments for the complete picture.   Brian Holmes, Thunder Beach
	The Ontario Farmer published a reader's letter in the issue of 10 September, 2002 under a heading that actually mentions "chemtrail":   Contact your MP and demand a chemtrail explanation   Dear editor:   Re: Drought discussions must mention cloud seeding (Aug. 27,2002)   Brian Holmes is exactly right about the high altitude aerial spraying which has been taking place over Ontario and other provinces for the last few months.   I live in Northumberland County on the north shore of Lake Ontario and have watched this spraying for the past six months.  It is done by at least two large jets that arrive in the morning and fly in formation, first flying east-west, then north-south, creating gigantic grids in the sky, or, very often, very large "X's".  The huge trails of chemicals sprayed from behind the jets spreads out until they form what look like long, high cloud.  On a heavy spraying day, the "chemtrails" as they are called, merge and the sky becomes milky white.  The blue sky is gone by the afternoon.  On very heavy days, a brown "halo" can be seen around the sun.  This "halo" effect was so pronounced one day in the spring that people were calling the local radio station about it.   Friends of mine in British Columbia have watched the same spraying going on for months.  People in the United States have reported the spraying for the past three years.   There is no doubt in my mind that the tons of chemicals which are being sprayed on Canadians without their knowledge or consent is adversely affecting their health and the health of their children, the environment and the weather.   I urge all people reading this to start paying attention to what is happening in the sky above you.  Brian Holmes' website at www.holmestead.ca is an excellent place to start to learn about this problem and to see what chemtrails look like.  Other excellent sources are www.rense.com and www.lifeboatnews.com.   I also urge you to contact your local MP and demand to know what is going on.   Yours truly,   Barbara Kulaszka

	In the Thursday, 28 November 2002 issue (page 11) of the Bancroft Times weekly newspaper a feature was published written by a staff writer.  This was the fourth chemtrail related item published since June 2001 by this family owned paper.  The paper has subscribers in all Canadian provinces plus expatriates located in many parts of the USA.  There was also a follow-up letter of thanks from Brian Holmes published in the issue of 5 December.     Petition For Answers on Chemtrails     By Barry Hendry   The thick, white condensation trails of jet aircraft, often called chemtrails due to their suspected chemical content, continue to cause concern among many. The most recent story in this newspaper appeared in August and caught the eye of a new reader in Brighton, Ontario. The reader has since sent off information requests to three federal departments, but initial response has been evasive or incomplete. The reader, a lawyer, continues to ask more pointed questions Environment Canada, the Privy Council and Transport Canada.   She questioned parallel, simultaneous flights over Lake Ontario, submitting photographs with the times of day and the number of flights over the same day. She wanted to know who was flying, what chemicals might be in the trails, what warnings might have been issued to residents, the purpose of the spraying and under what statute the flights were conducted.   A Haliburton man has sent his queries to Red Deer Alberta MP Bob Mills the Alliance Party environment critic who passed it on to Environment Minister David Anderson. In his letter to Anderson, Mills attached "several inquiries" his office had received about chemtrails. He asked the Minister for "the government position on the chemtrail question" and "a reply from Ottawa addressing the environmental and health damage that chemtrails purportedly cause."   Another website has added the issue to its pages. Brian Holmes of www.holmestead.ca has now gone one step further in trying to get answers from the federal government. He has tried, as have many others, to get answers without satisfaction.   He did receive two letters from Defence Minister John McCallum dated August 28 and another, received November 4, which answered Holmes' on-line open letter to the Minister.   McCallum said in the latter response, "After viewing the contrail pictures on your website, and others, the air staff has concluded there is nothing to indicate that these contrails are anything more than harmless vapour trails, as explained in my correspondence of August 28, 2001, to you."   McCallum told Holmes his location is on a flight path to the Midland VHF Omni -directional Range, a radio beacon, and that five high level airways intersect over Penetanguishene.   "On a busy day," McCallum said, "with the right atmospheric conditions, these aircraft will form contrails that could accumulate and remain in the sky for hours. The Canadian forces and the Government of Canada have not been involved in activities such as you describe in your letter, nor would we allow any other party to conduct any form of aerial activity that could endanger the health of Canadian citizens."   Holmes disputes the claim by McCallum and others that normal contrails can last for hours and that contrails are simply due to humidity and temperature conditions at high, altitude.   He decided that many names might improve on the results of a 500 name petition three years ago from residents of Espanola, Ontario. which reached Parliament.   "We simply want to get some answers and put it in front of them," says Holmes of the effort to reach MPs. "The last try was at Espanola and if people are feeling some amount of frustration they may have an outlet through the petition. On-line petitions simply do not work, they are not listened to and do not carry the same weight."   Holmes added the chemtrail issue to his normally quiet Internet site in May, 2002. Since then his "hits" per day have mushroomed from a few hundred a day to as high as 4,500 in one day. It had been about country living, pond culture, raising Muscovy ducks and some political commentary.   Holmes is a 66 year old retiree who became concerned over a rash of respiratory problems among residents of the Penetanguishene area over the last two years. The "epidemic" had normally healthy people hacking with dry coughs for months, and gagging themselves awake at night. He relates the symptoms to the overflights of jets which he and his wife counted one summer day at twenty-four, all with thick, long lasting trails.   The document, which Holmes had prepared by a lawyer to match federal petition criteria, and approved by Marc Toupin, Clerk of Petitions, House of Commons, calls for action. It requests the House of Commons to: (1) immediately order the cessation of all high altitude aerial spraying in Canadian air space; (2) immediately disclose the purpose of the aerial spraying; (3) immediately disclose the chemical composition of the materials sprayed, and (4) disclose when the program began, the amount of chemicals sprayed, the locations of spraying, the number, type and ownership of the airplanes which have been carrying out the spraying.   The claims in the petition cite that spraying has gone on over every province without the consent of Canadian's for at least two years. It, suggests the planes are military-type aircraft. It further contends that the chemicals adversely affect health, especially among children and that Canadians have the right not to be sprayed, "no matter what the purpose."   It continues to advise the Members of Parliament "THAT many concerned citizens have already attempted to obtain explanations of this aerial chemtrail spraying activity from their elected representatives and from various government departments but with no success."   In a preamble to the petition available from the website, Holmes says, "Attempts to determine a believable official explanation have led nowhere."   A petition is available at The Bancroft Times which will be sent to its author for submission to the House of Commons.

	September 2004:  This item turned up in the mail and is yet another example of the growing public awareness of the chemtrail issue in Europe.   The headline reads: "Airplanes spray the sky with chemtrails" and the article, occupying a full page of the German newspaper Mündener Rundschau, issue of Sunday, 22 August 2004, was written by Tom Strecker.
	Here is a useful link to a web site that lists items that have by chance appeared in some of the mainstream media (mostly in the U.S.A) regarding chemtrails - a very worthwhile read:  Chemtrails in the media.  Look here for the August 1999 CBC Radio report on the Espanola chemtrail incidents.  The petition mentioned in the report was delivered to Ottawa with over 500 signatures:  Hansard - Aircraft Emissions.  Unfortunately, our Member of Parliament at the time had apparently heard nothing of it.
	It appears that our current chemtrail experiences are typical: reports have been coming in for years from all over the United States, Canada and other (perhaps NATO) countries regarding high flying aircraft spraying aerosols containing various chemicals - typically barium, cadmium, aluminium, titanium - the list goes on.  Specifically, laboratory tests in Ontario have confirmed the presence of mica, quartz and carbon black - as well as aluminium particles measured at levels seven times the maximum allowable by Health Canada.   We have seen, immediately after chemtrail spraying, fine powdery deposits all over clean smooth outdoor surfaces here at the Holmestead but we have no means to collect samples and for that matter to examine the particles.  If any reader has any particular skills in this area and practical suggestions we would be happy to hear.   It may be that the spraying over more remote areas such as ours appears to be to allow the dispersal into "clouds" before reaching more populated centres.  The winds in this area are favourable for that pattern.  Nevertheless, reports are made by observers on a regular basis of spraying over Toronto and other heavily populated areas.   In our experience, when the weather conditions suits their purpose, the planes often arrive at dawn and continue most of the day.  Perhaps they do not work more (one might suppose) discretely at night because often the winds are very light at night and so the dispersal of the plumes would not occur.  It seems that the clouds so formed by the spraying cover the sky for days.  Notice how weather forecasts (Environment Canada - our local weather) these days don't seem to amount to a hill of beans.
	A scientist claims that the two most common substances being sprayed into chemtrails are aluminium oxide and barium stearate.  When you see planes flying back and forth marking parallel lines, X-patterns and grids in a clear sky, that's aluminium oxide.  The goal is to create an artificial sunscreen to reflect solar radiation back into space to alleviate global warming.   In some cases, barium may be sprayed in a similar manner for the purpose of "high-tech 3-D radar imaging.  The barium can be used for a 'wire' to shoot an electromagnetic beam through to take 3-D images of the ground far over the horizon." according to the scientist.   Ken Caldeira, a scientist at Lawrence Livermore Labs and a leading expert on weather modification, conducted the original computer modeling for the use of aluminium oxide to fight global warming.  He says: "We originally did this study to show that this program [using massive spraying for weather modification] shouldn't be done, due to negative health effects."
	The health implications of breathing chemtrail deposits are, needless to say, very severe.  It may depend on your age and personal sensitivity to dust and allergies and so on.  The most prevalent symptoms reported by witnesses (including friends and ourselves) in the wake of these white plumes are:  persistent hacking coughs, upper respiratory and intestinal distress, disorientation, aching joints and muscles, nosebleeds, sore eye lids, diarrhoea, and many other, often flu-like, symptoms.  Even a sort of dry metallic taste in the mouth.  There are also reports of stress and depression - some just become grumpy!  Overall, much like the reports of Gulf War Syndrome.   If you want to know more of how aluminium alone (often reported as being associated with the spraying) can affect your health:  Aluminum.  The page will open in a separate window - it may be kept open, minimized or closed to return here.   My personal current health problems fit right into this list of symptoms!  Such were my difficulties in breathing that two years ago I underwent an exploratory lung biopsy - three holes in the left chest, one for the instruments, one for the camera and a drain tube down below.  Great experience!  I am not usually a burden on the health care system - in fact, apart from these chemtrail problems I have been in excellent life long health.  Anyhow, the results from the credit card piece of my lung came back negative.  Perhaps they were not looking for the appropriate foreign irritants.  And, in case you are wondering - I have never smoked in my life.

	We have seen the tanker aircraft involved and most appear to be of the KC-135 family (no doubt the later updated R model).  These aircraft have been photo identified over Canada and officially confirmed as US Air Force KC-135 or the less common KC-10 or MD80.  I do not have exact counts of the United States inventory of such aircraft but it is in excess of 600.  Most likely only a limited number are capable of chemtrail spraying because many would be routinely assigned to regular air to air refueling duties..   June 2004 - an update:   The figure above of some 600 tankers has been around for some time but it appears that it could be on the low side.   From an air force source that is trusted and knowledgeable I have received these official figures of the current United States tanker inventory:   KC 135Rs:  Active Force 457,  Reserve 30,  Air National Guard 158,  Plus currently under contract with Boeing, 432 "kits" or upgrades of reactivated airframes.   KC 130 Fs+Rs 51,  Reserve 24   KC 10A Extender 59   This makes for a total of more than 1200 units.  Perhaps a tanker for each single fighter plane if we are talking air to air refuelling!   This article may be related to some of this information "Pentagon defers decision on Boeing tanker lease deal"  The page will open in a separate window - it may be kept open, minimized or closed to return here.   Perhaps someone would care to comment or see if Jane's Aircraft has more information on these numbers.   I have received reports that the Canadian military has no such aircraft in inventory and for the air to air refueling of, for example, CF-18 fighters when required they rely on "rent-a-tanker"!   Two images of the U.S.A.F. 	You may want to read this official document which is in pdf format.  It is 501 KB in size.  It describes the plans (or at least a research paper) of the United States military to control the weather by the year 2025 - hence our snide sub-heading in these pages: "Everyone talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it." (A comment made by Charles Dudley Warner 1897, but often erroneously attributed to Samuel Clemens - more usually known as Mark Twain.)     The opening lines in this document state: "In 2025, US aerospace forces can "own the weather" by capitalizing on emerging technologies and focusing development of those technologies to war-fighting applications.  Such a capability offers the war fighter tools to shape the battlespace in ways never before possible..."   So I guess our home is expected to become a "battlespace" in times to come!   For the complete document - which is on our server: Owning the Weather - 2025.pdf   By the way - if you don't have the free Acrobat PDF reader on your computer - go: Acrobat - big download!
	July 2004 - this report came my way and is difficult to find elsewhere but may be very valuable for researchers.  It is by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (San José, Costa Rica, 12–14 April 1999), and concerns itself with "Aviation and the Global Atmosphere"  The report is in pdf format and is available here in English or French.  The files are approximately 350 to 400 KB in size and are here on the Holmestead server.
	July 2004 - if nothing else but for the sake of completeness here is the: Convention on the Prohibition of Military or Any Other Hostile Use of Environmental Modification Techniques - Adopted by Resolution 31/72 of the United Nations General Assembly on 10 December 1976.  The report is in pdf format and is available here on the Holmestead server.
	July 2004 - The Solar connection:  Perhaps this is another insider story.   If nothing else it is a well written convincing theory, presented in a logical manner, as to the reasons for the illegal high altitude spraying by large military type aircraft of unknown substances - commonly referred to as 'chemtrails'.   Please take it for what it is worth and make your own decisions in the same way that you may have already done in reading the "Deep Shield" pages on this web site: The Solar connection.  The Solar connection page will open in a separate window.

	Some chemtrail links:   The archives of the Chemtrail Hall of Shame - "Documenting Illegal Spraying Operations above the Pacific NW" - is located just fifteen miles from Victoria B.C. and has an excellent three page Chemtrail Report.  Well written and directly informative - a very worthwhile read.  Also look in the Chemtrail Hall of Shame for "The Chemtrail Smoking Gun" where in Policy Implications of Greenhouse Warming: Mitigation, Adaptation, and the Science Bases the conclusion by the U.S. National Center for Atmospheric Research is that the most effective global warming method of mitigation (corrective) is the spraying of reflective aerosol compounds into the atmosphere utilizing commercial, military and private aircraft!   The journalist, William Thomas of Hornby Island, British Columbia offers a chemtrail video and book for sale on his web site:  Will Thomas   Jeff Rense (although rather US-centric) has plenty of chemtrail information to choose from and is a great source of other news and views:  Chemtrails Data Page with more than 150 links and documents.   A good source with lots of scientific documentation plus an example of the ongoing effort in attempting to bring the citizen's concerns to the attention of the U.S. government is here:  Clifford Carnicom   This next one is a little different!  Although I have received first hand reports of "orbs" I have not seen one myself so this is something of a "head-up" or something to watch for.  Here I quote the Orbwar web site: "An orb is the camouflage/cloaking of an aircraft that operates in secrecy over the planet.  The color of an orb is as adjustable as a television set.  Some orbs are capable of holographic projection and simultaneous chem spraying.  The orb serves two important functions:  1. hides the true appearance of the aircraft,  2. deflects/absorbs radiation.  Radiation is key to the chemtrail issue because chemtrails are used to reflect and concentrate radiation, whether from dark space, sunlight, or electronic transmitters.  This controlled radiation can be used as a shield, as a direct energy weapon, and for mind control tampering of people.  This is in no way a summary of all chemtrails applications."      These are sample images from the San Fernando Valley area and Hollywood taken in 2002. 	In May 2002 a search on Google.com for "chemtrails"returned some 13,000 results but in February of 2007 around 515,000 results for "chemtrails" in plural plus singular on English pages - quite an increase: Google search   Again in May 2002 - a further search adding "Ontario" to chemtrails returned about 400 results but in February 2007 (as above) there were some 26,000 with the Holmestead site being very close to the top: Google search.   Go ahead - explore.  There is some fascinating information out there.
	If some of you think this web site is a little dull and old fashioned looking and that it doesn't have many bells and whistles then perhaps I should point out that it has been online in this form since 1996.  I may get around to updating it one day when I have time and especially when everyone has a high speed connection!
